Business Copywriter/Editor

Location: Monterey, CA

OVERVIEW
Content development is critical to maintaining a consistent customer-focused brand message. Therefore, this writer will create content that speaks to our customers and potential customers in the voice of our brand and will help drive new business through compelling business proposal content.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Interview internal subject matter experts
• Gather research from external and internal resources
• Finalize and manage standard writing assignments
• Develop product copy to support business and marketing objectives
• Retrieve, edit and update copy from an existing product copy database
• Works on high-profile accounts that are complex, non-routine and vary greatly in scope
• Establishes priorities for assigned tasks for self and others and often works concurrently on multiple complex tasks
• Gathers essential communication objectives from client meetings, briefings, interviews and research
• Conceptualizes and determines product features for new items, converting into compelling copy to demonstrate the customer benefits
• Proofreads for style, grammar, punctuation, logos, photo and copy relationships, spelling and overall style consistency
• Quality checks page layouts for type characteristics and adherence to layout style. May check work of others
• Assists RFP Team with shipments of hard copy proposals, including printing proposals and forms, gathering signatures on the forms as needed, preparing binders, labels and CDs as needed, and providing completed proposal package to the Shipping Department in a timely fashion for on-time delivery
• Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATION
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience of 3+ years business writing experience
• Highly effective written communication skills
• Ability to analyze issues and make decisions
• Willingness to collaborate and be open to feedback
• Experience creating original and repurposed content for a B2B setting preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Internet research abilities
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively across departments when completing assignments
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage deadlines and prioritize workload and make adjustment to meet business needs
• Must possess a strong portfolio of imaginative work
