Sr. Mechanical Engineering Technician

Location: Sunnyvale

Responsibilities

  • Assembling prototypes per engineering design/instructions
  • Debugging & Performance testing of engineering prototypes
  • Recording and reporting of test results
  • Preparation of instruments for pre-clinical labs
  • Reprocessing, rebuilding and troubleshooting of prototypes
  • Providing input and feedback for the design of test and assembly fixtures
  • Assisting with all aspects of early prototype builds, including procurement of material, rework of components and assembly of prototype instruments
  • Organizing, overseeing and collaborating with other groups to assemble and test prototypes
  • Assisting engineering team with expediting of prototype material
  • Providing input for protocols and reports for engineering, qualification and verification studies
  • Assisting engineers with drawing updates and change order preparation

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience supporting a mechanical engineering group in a product development organization
  • Associates of Science degree or equivalent work experience
  • Hands-on experience building mechanical assemblies, sub-assemblies or equipment with some electrical or pneumatic assembly using hand tools
  • Ability to perform prototype performance testing per written protocol or verbal instruction
  • Ability to do mechanical fabrication using machine and hand tools
  • Computer skills in Solidworks and Microsoft Office required
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with Design Engineers
