Intellectual Property (IP) Paralegal

Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for investigating and resolving discrepancies related to case particulars or database anomalies
  • Assists in quality assurance review (discrepancy resolution), which will include file review, docket record review, researching public and private data resources and internal processes to be leveraged in identifying errors or omissions in docket records and taking corrective action to cleanse system data
  • General support of the IP docket system and other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4+ years of relevant patent prosecution/docketing experience and 1-2 years of relevant experience, including contracts administration and intellectual property management
  • Must be familiar with NDA’s, how to process them and track relevant data in contracts database
  • General knowledge of Intellectual property filings as well as knowledge of US and foreign prosecution rules/regulations a must
  • Must be familiar with extracting relevant information from correspondence and official Patent & Trademark Office databases to ensure system data integrity
  • Possess the ability to build complex family trees and complex family priority claims in an effort to clean up database priority data
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to accomplish tasks within agreed upon time frames through effective prioritization
  • Ability to work independently and be a team player to complete tasks and respond to department requests and to collaborate with others to identify solutions

  • Ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities, meet critical deadlines and demonstrate initiative
  • Ability to work independently under limited supervision
  • Strong work ethic and accountability
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Familiar with Dennemeyer “classic” software preferred
